Portugal 2012: Porto, Fuji Velvia 50

“Rooftops” – Porto, Portugal

This is the second half of yesterday’s roll of Fuji Velvia 50, from Porto. As I mentioned yesterday, Porto was amazing! I also liked Lisbon, but preferred Porto. It’s a really cool city with an awesome vibe; the people there are incredibly nice. That was the case everywhere we went in Portugal–I never met a person who wasn’t friendly and accommodating.

Generally, I don’t care for Fuji’s Velvia line of films. Often, colors can be garishly oversaturated; I prefer more muted colors with a bit more subtlety. Sometimes it really does work, however, especially with such a wonderful blue sky and the great colors of the rooftops and tiles in Portugal. The tiles on the walls are pretty cool, and in Lisbon we went to the National Tile Musem, where we learned all about Portugal’s long history of tile-making and decorating.

What are your film preferences? Do you have any favorite combinations of lenses and film? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!

    1. Yeah, Velvia can be a bit much but there are times when I like it. Nowadays with post-processing on the computer, film choice seems to matter less, however. That’s too bad in my opinon.
